Field Herp Forum - Typically, the phrase “in situ” refers to a photograph of a wild animal that has not been touched or moved or in any way influenced by the photographer—just a shot of the animal as it was seen in the wild.  This is a great collection of some favorite in situ photos from some very talented herpers.
