The Reptile Report - From Sam Whittaker:

“Thor is a ukcb14 lesser fire pastel possible heterozygous VPI axanthic male royal python (ball python). When I first got Thor he was a really bright quality looking animal. Then one day weird things began to happen!

His yellow started getting white patches! (16th June 2015) At first I was worried wondering what was happening and started to observe Thor intensely. Over the next few days Thor was rapidly changing and there was a huge difference within 4 days (20th June 2015). He was getting whiter as the days passed. On 5th July 2015 Thor’s yellow had almost completely gone, he had tiny yellow patches and grey patterning down him. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing as the snake I originally got was a completely different snake now. 23rd July 2015 all of Thor’s yellow had fully disappeared and he looked magical!

As the days went by and I just stared into the enclosure wondering what was going to happen next. Thor’s white just started to explode with intensity and his grey pattern started going darker giving him an awesome contrast in color. By the 6th September 2015 you would never have guessed I had the same snake in my collection!

Still to this day Thor blows my mind and still has me guessing as to what’s going to happen next! I’m proud to announce that this season 2016/2017 Thor will be getting paired to a few females and hopefully we can recreate this awesome animal and get his babies going through the color change too!”
