YouTube - Phoboscincus bocourti is otherwise known as the terror skink, and it really lives up to its name! It is a meat eater and fills the same niche as the T-Rex did in its day. This critically endangered lizard is endemic to Province Sud, New Caledonia, and was thought to be extinct until 2002. It is quite possibly the rarest lizard in the world, and Dāv Kaufman tours the island it is known to exist on in a search to find it. The path is riddled with obstacles, sharp thorns, and pitfalls that drop to 50 feet or more. It’s not an easy search, but he is determined to find, and document this lizard in the wild.
