Help Rico Walder
Facebook - May 5th is just around the corner! Have you gotten your bid in for this beautiful piece of art?
From Scales & Tails Australia:
As many of you know, Rico Walder worked in the zoo industry for over twenty years (at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa and the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga). In 2007, he left the field in order to devote all of his time to his company Signal Herp, which specialises in breeding Green Tree Pythons and Emerald Tree Boas. In February 2012, Rico was diagnosed with gliobastoma, an aggressive brain tumour. Since then, he has spent most of his time undergoing various treatments while still running Signal Herp.
Justin Julander has started an Australian campaign raising money and awareness to help Rico Walder with his fight, starting with his article in issue #34 of our magazine and a donation on behalf of us, our advertisers and our readers.
A local artist named Brad Love was touched by Justin’s article about Rico’s visit to Australia and his fight. He has produced a beautiful painting “Depicting a Green Tree Python coming out of the forest, the footprints represent Rico going to view the species”.
We are holding a worldwide silent auction online for this original Brad Love painting, to raise as much as we can. The auction will end on 6th May 2014 and S&T will cover freight costs to the winning bidder anywhere in the world so the entire proceeds of the auction will go to Rico.
Please bid what you can to aid Rico, with all he has done to advance herpetoculture, it would be a shame to let him fight this battle alone. Rest assured, this is a worthwhile effort to help one of the good ones!
To submit a bid, email firstname.lastname@example.org Re: silent auction, with your full name, address, phone number and amount of bid in your local currency. The winning bidder will be notified via email and will be required to pay for the item via direct deposit, credit card or PayPal within 48 hours of the end date.
If you are unable to participate in the auction, but would like to contribute in some way, we encourage you to donate what you can using the ‘send money’ feature on PayPal with a message of support directly to Rico via email@example.com even $5 helps, more importantly, your included message of support will mean so much.
