On the Web - A proper ecosystem has checks and balances. Timber Rattlesnakes are one of those checks. They are integral for keeping the Lyme disease in check by keeping the tick’s prey item in balance. In ecosystems where the Rattlesnake has healthy populations, researchers see a direct correlation with the occurrence of Lyme disease.
