Facebook - This incredibly rare Jan’s Hognose (Xenodon histricus) protects itself by being a coral snake mimic.  Very little is known about this animal in the wild, and it is even rarer in captivity. This set of photos was taken on a research project to learn more about this beautiful little creature’s habitat, diet, and behaviors. The snake was brought into captivity for further research after the photos, and is thriving and eating so far.
