How to Harvest Semen from a Crocodile

The Reptile Report - The task of harvesting the semen from the male crocodile is “relatively non-invasive”, according to reproductive biologist Dr Stephen Johnston from the University of Queensland’s School of Agriculture and Food Science.

“It’s more like tickling them let’s say”. That’s enough when they’re in the peak of their breeding season to provide a semen sample.

Although research into the artificial reproduction (AI) in Australian saltwater crocodiles is in its early stages, researchers from the University of Queensland are leading in the field.
