The Reptile Report - Personalities- A Media Resource

My name is Ken Foose, and I’ve been keeping, breeding, and working with reptiles and amphibians my whole life. I produced my first captive bred snakes (Red Milk snakes) in 1970 at the age of 11. I have worked with countless species since then, and have traveled extensively in search of reptiles and amphibians. I’ve visited most of the countries in the Americas, and have traveled to Southeast Asia and Australia in search of reptiles and amphibians.

After graduating from college with a degree in Zoology, I worked at several small and major zoos, constantly moving west. I opened my own reptile zoo called Reptiles of the West in 1983. After 8 years I decided I was bored and needed to do something else. I opened Exotic Pets in Las Vegas in 1991. For the past 22 years Exotic Pets has provided reptiles, amphibians, birds and exotic mammals to the public and to over 48 zoos, universities and museums.

I have extensive experience in providing and wrangling animals for TV shows, movies and commercials. I’ve also had extensive experience in front of the camera, mostly for news programs, documentaries and “reality TV”. I’ve also had my animals appear on the Tonight Show, and other television programs. Recently I appeared in Elephant in the Living Room, an exotic animal docudrama. I have been a featured guest on several reptile oriented radio shows, and multiple magazine and news paper articles.

I am a staff writer for Reptiles Magazine, for which I have written a monthly column for the past 6 years. I’ve had several scientific papers published on reptiles, and have been a contributor of several books on herpetology. I am a member of the Southern Nevada Herpetological Society, and also have memberships to various other regional herpetological societies. I’m a member and supporter of USARK and PJAC, NRAAC, and I’m active in animal politics. I am currently president of the International Herpetological Symposium.
