The Reptile Report - Personalities- A Media Resource

My name is Mike Wilbanks and my almost 40 year love affair with snakes began very simply as a boy of 6 years catching my first snake in a field behind our house. I had a litter of garter snake babies at 7 and have kept reptiles in one form or another almost my entire life. Since founding Constrictors Unlimited in 1997 we have bred Burmese Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, Boa Constrictors and Ball Pythons. In the last few years I made the decision to stop propagating the larger species of pythons and focus only on Ball Pythons. Since that time, we have grown into one of the largest and most diverse producers of ball python morphs, producing several thousand baby ball pythons each year in almost every color and patter imaginable.

Outside of snakes, I own two pawn shops with my father that he founded while I was still a boy. In 2007, I was involved in an armed robbery at one of my stores that ended in a gun battle with me being forced to shoot two of the robbers. Between the pawn shops and the reptiles, every day is a new adventure, whether it is good or bad I cannot think of a boring day in my 25 year career.

Constrictors Unlimited has become the one of the largest global suppliers of ball python morphs to the pet trade with a network that spans the globe. We have distributors in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Philippines, Poland, Japan and Hong Kong. We do in-store promotions at many of these locations, travel to reptile shows throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia and all together I am out of the country as many as a dozen times per year. I work tirelessly to help educate people and promote the reptile industry globally.

Our website, has been a pioneering force in bringing eCommerce to the reptile business. We were one of the first to provide individual photos of every python we have available for sale and we always provide professional and safe packing to ensure that the animals arrive safely overnight to your door.

At the beginning of the internet I recognized that the ability to take good photographs of snakes would be essential to standing out in this competitive market. After extensive reading, lessons and trial and error, I have become one of the most accomplished photographers of snakes in the industry. My photos have been published in Reptiles Magazine, many reptile reference books and used in television shows for Nat Geo and TruTV. We are currently in the editing phase of our DVD that will be published to demonstrate some of the ball python breeding techniques that have contributed to our success.

I have appeared as a guest on several radio shows promoting reptile shows and the reptile industry as well as my own business.
