YouTube - Does banning the captive care of an invasive species actually reduce the wild population? In this video from Professor Herp, studies on or relating to this question are discussed and used to determine an answer. There are various bills (SB906, SB1414, HB1415, and HB777) going through the Florida House and Senate that are aiming to ban not only the captive care of green iguanas and all tegu species, but also the sale and breeding of any “conditional species”. These bills are being proposed to counter the rising invasive species problem of these two reptiles. Many keepers, invasive species captors, and breeders are pushing back as this bill is unwarranted and will not solve the invasive species problem.
